Staff

We want to thank and acknowledge our wonderful staff for their energy, expertise and profound beliefs to The TAM Program. Each person brings his or her own unique and special contributions based on years of personal and professional experience.

  Joel Sklar, MD, Medical Co Director was born in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. He attended medical school and completed his medical training at University of California, San Diego Medical Center. He moved to Colorado to finish his Cardiology Fellowship at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Critical Care Medicine and is an advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor for the American Heart Association. Dr. Sklar is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Heart Association. He is credited with the name for The TAM Programand support for the Program's creation.
  Mark Wexman, MD, Medical Co Director survived the sprawling metropolis that is New York City and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He then attended New York University School of Medicine where he received the Alumni award for Scholastic Excellence and the Glover C. Arnold Award on Surgery. Continuing at NYU, Mark was an internal medicine resident at Bellevue and University Hospitals before moving West for his cardiology training at the University of California, San Francisco. He was a postgraduate fellow at the San Francisco Heart Institute. Mark is on the clinical faculty at UCSF. The Class of 1994 recently recognized him for his commitment to teaching. He is a partner in Cardiology Associates of Marin and San Francisco and active in clinical practice at Marin General Hospital. He is the past president of the Marin Chapter of the American Heart Association and is deeply invested in preventive medicine and healthy lifestyle. His most inspirational teachers are his wife, Karen and their sons.
Vicki Chase, RN, Director, is a native of Marin and has been a registered nurse since 1976. She has a strong clinical background in medical-surgical nursing and has worked in patient education and health promotion since 1979. She has managed cardiac rehabilitation and stress management programs since 1981. A, Director of the Herrick Hospital Cardiac Rehab Program in Berkeley, CA she was instrumental in establishing Chapter 199 of the Mended Hearts, Inc. She developed and managed the Marin YMCA cardiac therapy program until she was asked by Cardiology Associates of Marin to develop the TAM Program. The first TAM Program was started in 1993, with her husband Kenn, and cofounders, Karen and Mark Wexman, MD's. Vicki has a stong interest in personal growth and human potential. This has led her to study Tai chi, Sensory Awareness, Feldenkrais, and Guided Imagery. In addition to her nursing talents, Vicki is a professional photographer. She has completed 6 marathons including Boston and enjoys exploring life with her husband Kenn and 2 dogs, Chaco and Nika.
Kenn Chase, BA, CFP, Stress Management Consultant, has a degree in Philosophy from San Jose State University and is a certified Feldenkrais® practitioner. He first studied Tai Chi Chuan with the noted Master Choy Kam Man of China and has taught Tai Chi and Stress Management techniques for 30 years throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Instructing at Esalen Institute since 1969, Kenn has incorporated a variety of mind/body healing techniques into his teachings. He has taught for hospitals, corporations, cardiac rehabilitation programs, universities and privately. He is founder and co-director of MindBody technologies. Kenn has studied with Fritz Perls, Moshe Feldenkrais, Ida Rolf, Charlotte Selver and Charles Brooks. Kenn met his wife, Vicki, while teaching cardiac rehabilitation. Together they pursue their quest for long life and abundant health.
Marcy Amonette, RN, Coordinating Nurse, is a native of Marin who has worked in Cardiac Rehab for several years, both for Cardiology Associates of Marin and San Francisco as well as St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco. Marcy received her BA in Biological Sciences at U.C. Davis and then obtained her R.N. at College of Marin. A registered nurse for over 20 years, her primary interest has been in preventive medicine. Upon graduating, she spent over 10 years counseling individuals in the development of appropriate goals for coronary risk factor reduction at Davies Medical Center in San Francisco and for Johnson and Johnson Health Care Systems. She also counseled female smokers with cardiovascular disease in a study at U.C. San Francisco. When she is not at work, Marcy loves to spend her free time hiking and running on the trails of Mt. TAM.
Nancy Bloom, RD, Nutrition Team, is a Registered Dietitian and cooking instructor with more than twenty years experience in nutrition education. As owner of a food and nutrition consulting business, she regularly counsels food organizations, insurance companies and the healthcare industry. Nancy possesses unique skills including the ability to translate health and nutrition information into understandable terms for use by the public. She relishes the challenge of taking nutritional facts and making them a reality in your kitchen and everyday eating habits. Her experience makes her a sought after consultant. Prior to starting her own business, she was an out patient dietitian at Saint Vincent's Hospital in New York City. She was also a nutrition instructor with The Pritikin Program and Marshal Hale Hospital in San Francisco. Nancy received her BS in Dietetics from California State University in Chico, California and completed her Administrative Internship at the University of California, Berkeley. She lives in Mill Valley with her husband and three children.
Scot Legan, MS, Exercise Physiologist, Fitness Specialist, has worked for Cardiology Associates for four years, as the exercise physiologist in the Cardiac Rehab program, as a stress test technician, and, in the TAM Program. In 1995, Scot earned his BS in Kinesiology from Cal Poly State Hayward, with a focus in clinical exercise physiology. In 1997, Scot received a graduate degree in Kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. From 1998-2000, Scot worked as the exercise physiologist for the Preventive Medicine Research Institute, working at several heart disease retreats and supervising the exercise portion of the Institute's Prostate Cancer study. You will most likely catch Scot hiking or riding on a trail in Marin County when he is not in the office.
Diana Zech, Exercise Physiologist, came to us from Northern New York. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2002. She came to the Bay Area in 2003 and started working in Cardiac Rehab at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. Diana's first experience at CAMSF was with TAM 47 during the summer of 2004. She joined the CAMSF team full-time in the fall to work in Cardiac Rehab and with the TAM program. When she's not at work, you'll most likely find her out enjoying the beautiful sites of Northern California.
  Sarah Lamb, RN, MS, FAACVPR, Database Management, obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Kansas and her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Wichita State University. After 20 years of clinical nursing in the critical care, coronary care, and cardiac rehabilitation arena she went on to obtain her masters in cardiovascular nursing from the University of California in San Francisco. Sarah is past State President and 6-year board member for the California Society for Cardiac Rehabilitation (CSCR); she initiated the legislative program for this organization and received a special recognition for her work with CSCR. She has also been involved on the national level with issues related to legislative and reimbursement for the American Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) where she obtained her fellowship. Prior to coming to TAM, Sarah worked in the ENRICHD and WINS research projects at the Stanford Preventive Research Center. She joined the TAM Team to coordinate data outcome and follow-up.
  Claire Costello Vermillion, PhD, RN, C.S., Psychological Support Team, is a licensed psychologist and a clinical nurse specialist with 20 years experience in a variety of clinical settings working with adults and teens both individually and in groups. She has a private practice in San Francisco and Marin. She offers client-centered counseling and psychotherapy using dreams, guided imagery, and sand play as tools. Mind-Body health and interdisciplinary teamwork have been significant interests of hers since nursing school in the 1970's. Her husband, Steve Vermillion, M.D., is a graduate of The TAM Program®. Claire shares her enthusiasm with the TAM team by her commitment to the on-going healing process of all of its participants. Claire acts as psychological consultant to the core TAM group; co facilitates "Partner Night" and facilitates on-going Graduate groups.
  Lyn Gracie Adams, MD, Psychological Support Team, is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCSF where she teaches psychopharmacology. She graduated from Queen's University Medical School in Canada. She completed an internship in medicine and a residency in psychiatry at UCSF. Dr. Gracie is an outpatient psychiatrist in private practice in Marin County. Her special interests include the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders in women across the lifecycle, and in providing consultation to a lifestyle modification program for patients who have coronary artery disease. She is co-author of a chapter on "Dual Career Relationships" in a book titled Dilemmas of a Double Life: Women Balancing Career and Relationships edited by Nancy Kaltreider, M.D. Last, but not least, she regards orchestrating a family life for her husband, a cardiologist, and their three daughters, as her most rewarding and intense activity.
  Sue Cameron, RN, MSN; Coordinating RN. Sue is a native Californian, born in Eureka, and a 25-year resident of Marin County. Her family resides in Oregon. Sue states she always knew she wanted to be a nurse, particularly helping people prevent disease. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing at the University of Washington in 1975 and returned to school in 1995 to achieve a Master's Degree in Nursing at Sonoma State University. She has worked in a variety of clinical positions including hospitals, home care, patient education, case management and quality assurance. In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Sue has studied a variety of complimentary medicine modalities, including the effects of touch on anxiety levels. She continues to explore mind body medicine with a particular interest in somatics. Her relaxation tools include meditation, drop spindle spinning, and taking road trips. She has a cat named Emma who has taught her about healing in ways she had not imagined.
  Donna Jarvis is a native of California, having lived half of her life in Marin County. She is the Administrative Assistant for the TAM Program and has worked seven years for Cardiology Assoicates. She previously worked as the unit coordinator for the Ross Psychiatric Hospital and as office manager for a Psychiatrist's Office. Donna has raised three daughters, all of whom live close by in Marin. During her free time you will find her reading, gardening, walking on the Marin hiking trails and spending time with five grandchildren.
